Office 365: Search in OWA is also powered by Microsoft Search (I)!

In OWA, as happens with the Office 365 home page, the entire SharePoint Online and OneDrive For Business (ODFB) services, search is powered by Microsoft Searc. As soon as we make a click in the Search Box in OWA, Microsoft Search starts to suggest search results to the user:

Moreover, Microsoft Search in OWA provide a set of default search filters that can be applied to e-mail items:

And once we click the “Search” button, we get in OWA the results matching the search filters defined by the user:

Office 365: Microsoft Search is finally arriving to your tenant (I)!

Little by little Microsoft Search is arriving to Office 365 to take its place as the search engine in all the platform. The first sign of this arrival is the search box available in the Office 365 top bar that provides a unified user experience when using search. Search in Office 365 is contextual:

• When the user clicks on the search box and depending on the search scope, the search engine presents last applications, files, contacts and news the user has been interacting with.
• As soon as the user types a search criteria, Microsoft Search inmediately suggests search results that meet that criteria.
• If the search results returned are not the ones expected by the user, he/she can always expand the results and be redirected to the search results page.

This search experience we can find in the Office 365 Home page is the same accross all the places where the user can make searches:

• The SharePoint Home page where search results are restricted to the SharePoint sites where the user has access.
• OneDrive For Business:

• A specific SPO Site.
• A specific SPO Document Library. In this search scope is where we will find some limitations in regards of Microsoft Search availability: when we decide to expand the search results for a specific search term, we will be redirected to the classic SPO Search Center.

• From OWA where we will be presented with a very interesting search experience.

Office 365: Llega Microsoft Search a todo Office 365 (I)!

Poco a poco la llegada de Microsoft Search como motor de búsqueda de todo Office 365 comienza a ser una realidad. El primer signo de esta llegada es la famosa “caja dé búsqueda” centrada disponible en distintos ámbitos y que proporciona una experiencia de usuario de búsquedas totalmente contextual:

• Nada más que el usuario hace clic en la caja de búsqueda, y en función del ámbito de la misma, se muestran las últimas aplicaciones, archivos, contactos o noticias con los que ha interactuado.
• En cuanto se escribe un criterio de búsqueda, Microsoft Search inmediatamente sugiere resultados que cumplen dicho criterio.
• Si los resultados propuestos no son los esperados por el usuario, siempre se puede acceder al listado de resultados en la página moderna de resultados de búsqueda.

Esta experiencia de búsquedas de Microsoft Search se propaga a cada uno de los ámbitos desde los que se puede buscar:

• La página de inicio de SharePoint, de forma que los resultados se restringen a los Sitios de SharePoint a los que tiene acceso el usuario.
• OneDrive For Business:

• Un Sitio concreto de SPO.
• Una biblioteca de documentos. Es precisamente este ámbito donde encontramos todavía alguna limitación que consiste en que cuando queremos expandir los resultados de la búsqueda somos redirigidos a un centro clásico de búsquedas.

• Desde OWA con una experiencia de búsquedas bastante interesante.
